Journeyman Ink has been working in schools and around students for over 15 years. Our work has no age limit, and students from Pre-K to University have had the chance to share their voice and their light through purposefully designed performance experiences and interactive writing and speaking workshops. These experiences for students can range from a single class period, to an assembly with breakouts, to day-long conferences with carefully curated guest artists, musicians, and friends of Journeyman Ink.
The work that we do with young people is impactful because we meet them wherever they are, and invite them to join us on the path to wherever it is that they may be going. By activating voice, mind, and body, students are actively engaged for 100% of the time they are with us. For groups of students whose attention may be pulled in any number of different ways over the course of their typical day, our work invites them into spaces predicated on presence and purpose. By focusing on emotional literacy, we give young people the opportunity to engage with themselves and those around them in ways that build both self-love and empathy.
We believe that young people thrive when exposed to those individuals who live and breathe their work. Our unique position within the artistic and educational community in Dallas allows us to introduce young people to a diverse set of thinkers and professional who are making real impact on our communities and our city.
